As you may have heard, the South has been blasted by some nasty storms over the past week.
It began last Sunday evening when Celebrity Apprentice was interrupted by a weather alert. The weathermen were fearing tornadoes in a storm heading our way from the West. Of course, that meant I didn't sleep much until I saw on the doppler radar that the storm had safely passed us by.
And then on Thursday night, we were again alerted by the local meteorologists of a storm approaching from the West. No threat of tornadoes, but powerful winds, lightening and hail. I called my parents, who live about 40 minutes West of us to make sure they'd heard about the approaching hailstorm so that they could cover their car. Too late!
Dad sent me this picture, and no less than 5 minutes later, the hail was knocking against our windows. Luckily it had shrunk somewhat by the time it got to us and my car sustained less damage than my Dad's.
But Monday evening, we got home from work and the power was out. Due to the lingering high winds, evidently. So we hung out at the bookstore until bedtime, entered our apartment with flashlights and were much relieved when the power came on by the time we made it to the bedroom.
