Snow for Texas

I remember now a few events I wanted to share!

Snow.

If any of y'all watch the Weather Channel obsessively, you may remember that north Texas was blessed with a beautiful snow blizzard on Christmas Eve. Most of us who have lived here a long time have ceased to find much meaning in the songs like "White Christmas" or even "Jingle Bells" that elevate snow to an unmitigated Christmas essential. So although the roads were scary, we appreciated the added Christmasness of our holiday this year.

But, about a week before that we were enjoying a sunny, balmy holiday season where the thermostat hovered around 70 degrees with the occasional nosedive to 40 or 50.

This was the setting for Bill's company Christmas party. Bill works for a fairly young company. The company is growing and a LOT of its employees are just starting their own families. They have lots of family geared activities. Its a great environment. And for their Christmas party, they challenged all of the "teams" on the main floor to decorate their cubicles in the most awesome way to see who could do best.

Bill is a team leader and...had no budget for this kind of thing.

So they came up with "White Christmas" as their theme and we spent an entire evening cutting out paper snowflakes. Another team member brought white butcher paper to wrap around the cubicles. And another brought

styrofoam packing popcorn to pour all over the floor:

The kids LOVED it. In fact, most of them stayed in that little set of cubicles the entire time. They made snow angels and tracked it all over the office...just like real snow!
