addicted to Zillow

Over the last two months, we've spent several Saturdays checking out apartments in the area.

Because, well, we're feeling kinda done with our apartment complex. Don't get me wrong, we like our apartment. It's cute and it's our home. But remember that time when our air conditioner dumped water all over our closet? And then a few months later how our bathtub drain was leaking into our pantry/coat closet? And then how a few months ago our downstairs neighbor informed us that our refrigerator was leaking water into his laundry room? I'm sure you remember the big gaps in our front door that have been "worked on" several times, but never fixed. Did I ever tell you about the ants and the mice that it took us months to get rid of when we first moved in? What about the concrete shoeprint on the linoleum of our bathroom?

But this time, it's gone too far. They've taken our internet.

It was supposed to be a "seamless transition" between the complex's exclusive cable providers. (Meaning, we've never had a choice of cable/internet providers.) Our service from the old provider ended on the 22nd. When we would try to call and schedule service with the new provider, we were told that they don't service this address until the 22nd, and to call back then. So we called on the 22nd and were told that they couldn't possibly get a technician to our apartment before the 30th. Oh, and that someone over 18 has to be there when they show up.

Awesome.

So my mom is babysitting our apartment for us today and we hope we'll have our internet back when we come home. And we are so moving when our contract is up this summer.

In fact, after mentioning our apartment search to friends and family, we've had enough people assure us that we could find a house with monthly payments that would be less than some of the rent we're finding. So..we've called a realtor. Wish us luck!

And I'll leave you with this:

Yes, the Internet thing is the last straw! Good luck with the house search. We hope to be there someday . . . hopefully within the next ten years :)

Mal, I just google imaged Zillow Texas, wanting to see what kind of neighborhood it would be. Guess what popped up? Yup, Bob Barker. Would he be your neighbor?
